Charly's DIY Car Service - BackgroundCharly’s uncle is going to retire and decided to hand over his car service to his nephew Charly. Charly quickly realized that he’s not much of a mechanic so he won’t be able to run the car service in a conventional way. However, Charly owns a degree in business administration so he started to reconsider the business concept. After spending some thoughts he had an innovative idea how he can use his uncle’s car service to earn money with it: Instead of repairing the cars himself, he will rent out his garage including all machines and tools on an hourly basis. “Charly’s Do It Yourself Car Service” was born. He immediately started to create his business plan and realized that he will need IT to get the business up and running… Hint Before you start to work on with the exercises, you should engaged modeling in ADOit. In the course of INNOTRAIN IT we conducted more than 20 case studies with SME in Central Europe. All cases had a different business background, and are located in six different regions. However, all were deal with problems which can be solved by IT Service Management. From this set of cases we’ve picked four scenarios as basis for our trainings. All examples are focusing on one particular level of the INNOTRAIN IT ‘Innovation Spiral’:
To understand the relationship between the levels of the ‘Innovation Spiral’, the four examples refer to the fictional company „Charly’s DO-IT-YOURSELF Car Service“. The examples describe the initial situation, incorporate modelling exercises for ADOit, give sample solutions, and include summaries of the actual cases.
